Kennedy Performance, LLC is a family owned automotive machine shop and engine building facility located just minutes away from I-64 and I-75 in the heart of Central Kentucky. At Kennedy Performance (KP), our main focus is specializing in high performance street and racing engines and providing premium quality engine machining operations. Chad began working in the performance and racing industry at

a local speed and custom shop in 1995 where he gained a lot of experience in building engines, modifying and customizing show cars, street cars, drag race cars, drag boats, offshore boats, pulling trucks, and the list goes on. In November of 1999 he then went on to work for the world renown Mopar engine builder and Sprint car chassis builder Gary Stanton at Stanton Racing Inc. There he gained great machining skills and furthered his engine building expertise. At Stanton Racing, Chad gained experience in machining and building engines from the bare block to the cylinder heads for the following motor sports: World of Outlaws winged sprint cars, USAC sprint cars, Midgets, Silver Crown sprint cars, World of Outlaws Late Models, NHRA Pro-Stock, NHRA Turbocharged Pro Outlaw Sport Compact Front Wheel Drive, and research and development on some of Mopar Crate engine packages. Some of the race car drivers include: Mark Kinser, Steve Francis, Tony Stewart, Jay Drake, Danny Lasoski, J.J. Yeley, Tom Hesert, Shaun Carlson, Dave Steele, Josh Wise, Samuel Hubinette, Levi Jones, Dale Blaney. In July of 2007 Chad Kennedy officially opened Kennedy Performance, LLC to follow his dream of building and providing custom engines with the best of his ability to anyone wanting something unique with quality, attention to detail and pride. Chad is continually learning and tries to provide the best service to each and every customer no matter how big or small the project. KP is providing engines for the street, drag racing, circle track, and road coarse racing, off road, Jeeps, truck pulling, inboard/outboard marine from fast runabouts to all out offshore boats, and engine restorations for classic and collectible automobiles. Kennedy Performance provides complete finished engine packages with dyno testing available. After the engine is completed it is wrapped and sealed to protect it from the elements and contamination before it leaves the facility. Crating and shipping of engines is also available to accommodate customers that are not able to personally pick up their engine. We are able to ship world wide with great service. Chad Kennedy is an ASE Certified Master Engine Machinist and Master Automobile Technician. Kennedy Performance, LLC is a member of AERA (Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association). Late 2018, we purchased a 2004 Jeep TJ for Cloe’s first car, from a lady named Rebecca Collins. Rebecca loved this Jeep but with it being a manual shift she was unable to drive it due to an injury. Little while later she posted about us bringing it home, hopeful that we would lift and restore it. At that time, I thought no way I was going to do all that for my daughter’s first car.

A few years went by and, as I’m sure those in the Jeep community can attest, it was slowly rusting away. As you can see in the picture, there was a small spot beginning to rust through below the driver’s door.

If I wanted to keep the Jeep going, I was going to have to take care of this problem very soon. Then we started noticing rust in the seams of the fenders, which would require replacing the entire fenders. It was then I knew I was starting on a full restoration project. And so that’s how this 55-gallon bucket of worms got opened.

Super cool project, go follow the journey!
