This folks is why we supported the officer. You can’t post every day that the city is getting out of hand because the police department does nothing and then crucify them at every move that they do.

On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Lewiston Police conducted a traffic stop after an officer observed a vehicle nearly collide with another vehicle on Birch Street. As the officer initiated the stop, the suspect vehicle struck a curb, causing one of its tires to go flat.

During the subsequent investigation, the driver identified himself as Kim Thurlow. Throughout the encounter, the driver actively resisted by refusing to comply with officers' lawful commands, resulting in officers using force to take him into custody. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Falsifying Physical Evidence and Refusing to Submit to Arrest.

As the investigation continued, officers determined that the individual arrested had provided a false identity and was actually Jeremy Leavitt, DOB 9/10/1971. By the time officers confirmed his true identity, Leavitt had already been released from the Androscoggin County Jail on bail.

Lewiston Police later located Leavitt at his residence in Poland. With assistance from the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office, officers attempted to take him into custody.

Upon officers' arrival, Leavitt approached them while armed with a crowbar. After refusing officers' commands, a Taser was deployed, allowing officers to safely take him into custody.

In addition to the original charges of Falsifying Physical Evidence and Refusing to Submit to Arrest, Leavitt has been charged with:
• Failure to Give Correct Name, Address, or Date of Birth
• Refusing to Submit to Arrest (second offense)
• Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon
• Resisting Arrest by Physical Force

As even we as a business have found lately, people only post the portion of the video that fits the narrative they want to push. Why? Because the truth doesn’t generate many clicks these days. Mid Valley Motors stands behind this officer. You punch and bite an officer and become combative resisting arrest then you deserve the full weight of the department showing up in force. With the amount of crime and violence in our city and lack of support for officers its clear why they are having staffing issues. Where is the Lewiston Strong community backing our officers putting their lives on the line everyday to try and keep this city from imploding? We need more help from the community then some bumper stickers and t-shirts. Businesses and community members need to back and support our support staff.

This is the kind of fiscally responsible guy we need in the state house!!! Found a way to only have to pay 1/2 price for his wedding reception. Biggest argument of the day from guests was which side of the aisle to sit on because they were there representing both sides. Uncle Larry doesn’t want to p**s his niece and nephew off sitting on the wrong side 🤷‍♂️. This is the best and brightest we got folks! Hold on it should be fun!

New Lewiston community ambassador uniforms ordered. According to Head diplomat Carl, Apparently the trained police officers we have in our community don’t know whats going on so we are going to bring in untrained volunteers to be boots on the ground to stop gun violence. They better have the city attorney draw up an iron clad release because the mayor is clearly putting peoples lives at risk instead of dealing with the real problems head on.
