25 years ago this weekend local racer Ronnie Hood became the first person to win a NHRA pro mod national event at US Nationals. 32 racers tried to qualify for a 8 car field, Ronnie qualified 6th and went on to win the event. 10 years later he was inducted to NC Drag Racing hall of fame.

When we closed today I set the alarm and locked the door as I have thousands of times before. But today was different. Today I did that for the last time. After 70+ years we closed for the final time. This whole week has been an emotional roller coaster for me and my family. I wanted to take a moment to thank all our customers for the years of trust they placed in us for the honor and privilege of taking care of their vehicles. Many of them have become like family to us and we will miss them greatly. And I could never thank Ronnie Hood enough for his dedication to our business. My thoughts are with everyone of you and on behalf of myself and all the employees of Raineys Automotive, we wish all of you the best.
