Those who are buying an RV Especially NEW Please, Please get an inspection. I have now four customers who have called me referenced from the dealers who sold these New units for fixes/ Manufacture issues. If You are buying and immediately hitting the open road or having it dropped on a property to live in OR waiting to get your truck to pull your new rig, REMEMBER AND PLEASE READ THE DOCUMENT FROM THE DEALER STATING ALL WARRANTY REPAIRS WILL BE MADE AT A SERVICE CENTER/DEALER. Almost ALL manufacturers will not reimburse you because you signed the document stating that you understand that any issues you WILL have to return it for repairs. I have had only two Manufactures actually pay me on repairs on NEW rigs. Grand Design hardly no issues, Keystone (only once and after the customer called them Every Day for like 30 plus days) Both of these the people lived in them full time as they traveled or was waiting on the build of their home, which means they had NO WAY to return it to the dealer. My current customer is livid with all the issues in this NEW Keystone and is being told only fix is returning it and letting it sit for who knows how long. THESE Issues would have been caught before it even left the dealer and fixed if a professional inspected this rig. Does it cost money yes, how much money is your time worth. ALSO side note Third Party insurance that usually covers me to fix the rig will not cover you the first 12 months while it is under manufacture WARRANTY UNLESS YOU make sure it is in there. Let me save you the hassle and call me for an inspection. OR you can call me later and pay me out of pocket to come fix what was missed.

So I often have customers who are out of state requesting an RV inspection on something they have not yet seen. SUPER SMART! My last one found a super great Fifth Wheel with great photos and it was found on RV Trader, totally legit right? It was being listed by Pops RV, I cannot say for sure legitimacy. After looking at the ad and the pictures, my spidy senses were going off. The customer said they Won a bid for the trailer, which is not unusual for an RV being auctioned and once she one it required a 10% deposit. She had not paid the deposit and thank goodness she called me first. I told her to make contact and provide an address for me to verify location and trailer. The spider web started.........they said well the owner is living in it (Not in the Ad) and will not be able to deliver until February but they still needed a deposit to hold it. LOL, RED FLAGS everywhere, the customer said No Thank You. My assistance costed the Customer Nothing. If she did not call me for an inspection it would have cost the customer probably $12,000. I love helping people. If you choose not to get an inspection please keep my number because you can always call me to fix your RV.

So I have learned a certain large RV dealer do not conduct their own PDIs (Pre Delivery Inspection) You might ask what is a PDI well, An RV Pre Delivery Inspection is precisely what the name implies. It’s an examination of a new or used unit intended to make sure everything functions as it should before handing it over to the BUYER. PDIs are meant to give the new owner reassurance and confidence in the RV they are buying. So I learned that some manufacturers are doing the PDI before it is delivered to the dealer. So let's walk through the logic on this. Dealer buys RVs from Manufacturer the Manufacturer offers a screaming deal to this huge national dealer on the RVs if they let the manufacturer do the PDI before they ship it to one of their many dealers. In turn the dealer takes delivery of this RV and has roughly 40 minutes to do a walk through and sign for the RV and there is no other inspection done before the BUYER purchases this RV. I will not name any manufacturer or dealer but I will tell you it is happening and the last few weeks majority of my calls for repair are on Brand new units. When I am called out the first thing i ask is did you have this inspected before purchasing and why should they it is Brand New. Unfortunately, people also fail to read the fine print, that the warranty that comes with that new RV is only valid at a Service Center and requires you to return it, to sit and wait to be fixed. RV techs are not covered and are only covered by third party insurances. If you bought an insurance plan from the dealer it is very likely that only covers their service center or one of their affiliated service center. So while you are enjoying that awesome vacation and you need something repaired but they tell you to bring it back, remember what you bought. The RV life and vacations are awesome and I love helping people enjoy their vacations. Education is key before doing anything and buying an RV is no exception. 1- have your RV inspected by a certified RV Inspectors or even a veteran RV mechanic 2- Buy the third party insurance Especially if you are full time. 3- Ask the Dealer for the PDI inspection checklist and who inspected the RV at that dealer. If they cannot provide that information, immediate red flag and walk away or you can call me because I love helping people out and I like staying busy and employed.

What is on my mind? A Dometic Furnace DFMD35131. It was shooting code 1 limit switch or airflow. After going round and round I finally called Dometic. Issue slow burning 15 AMP fuse specifically to fix this model that Dometic has ceased to make because of this issue. I hope this helps someone else.
