We got a lot of calls this past week asking if their fireplace can work without power. The answer is some can yes! A lot of gas fireplaces have a battery pack underneath them and you only put batteries in IF the power is out. Do not put them in before and leave it. It will corrode the battery pack.

If yours doesn’t, perfect time to call us, we can install one for you depending on the gas fireplace you have.

Everyone stay warm and safe! Give us a call if your fireplace needs a tune up after this storm! We are not an emergency service, so if you happen to smell gas call the fire department

Fire and rescue units have responded to multiple reports of both indoor and outdoor gas leaks today and expect to continue doing so throughout the weekend. During colder temperatures, gas meter diaphragms can freeze, causing metal components to contract and creating potential gaps in seals. Consequently, rubber gaskets may harden, lose their flexibility, and fail to contain the gas, resulting in a faint odor around the meter.

If you consistently notice this smell or detect gas inside your house, please contact us immediately.

It's crucial to keep gas meters and exterior vents free from snow and ice, as obstructions can cause meter malfunctions, reduce energy efficiency, and even lead to carbon monoxide buildup in your home. During and after snowfall, use your hand or a broom to remove snow buildup, as shovels can damage vent pipes. If ice accumulates, carefully scrape it off with a non-damaging tool.

As always, we are here to help! Community members are encouraged to call 9-1-1 if they suspect an emergency involving propane or natural gas.
