I just had the best experience at a dealership repair shop I have ever had. I have several cars and have been taking them to this dealership for repairs for some time, but this last one takes the cake. I am a real, repeat customer and not a paid reviewer.
I was assigned to Shawn (Sean? Bearded guy with the very cool engine calling card holder) in the service desk to go over a thumping rattle coming from the back of my car. It is more of a big deal to me than perhaps someone else since I have special needs family members who are very affected by unknown buzzes, squeals, etc.
Shawn/Sean (sorry, I'm trying!) was super kind, understanding and took me seriously. He spent the time trying to fully understand the issue and didn't just grab my keys and go. He made me feel like a valued customer and made my basic issue important enough that I felt like I was his only customer for the day. I initially took my car to Best Buy to get some padding installed to mute the sounds but decided to go with industry trained professionals. I am glad I did.
I have worked in customer service/social media circles for over 30 years, this experience addressed a minor issue to some, but a showstopper to me that was promptly and quickly fixed. This transaction will be memorable enough that I will refer to this when I train my junior customer service agents. Amazon, Chik Fil A and AutoNation = great customer service.
I should add that I have worked with other service managers there and the experience was the same every time. On a different service call I had an issue so unique there was no official fix for it, so the team at AutoNation called in specialists to work with Toyota hand in hand to create a new process. It was VERY involved and took some time to figure out, but they got it done. I highly doubt another repair shop would have gone this extra mile.
