Deputies: Driver Failed to Move Over, Collides with Active Tow Operation on Route 365
POSTED: January 4, 2026
ROME — The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries in Rome, New York, Saturday night.
It happened around 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2026, on State Route 365 just east of Greenway New London Road in Rome.
Deputies say 22-year-old Roan Scott of Rome was driving a 2020 Mitsubishi westbound when he failed to move into the right lane for a tow truck working in the roadway.
Investigators say a 2023 Ford tow truck, operated by 19-year-old Caleb Bush of Oneida and owned by Rockers Auto, was attempting to winch a disabled vehicle from the median back onto the road at the time.
Scott’s vehicle struck the tow truck, causing his car to spin, partially exit the north shoulder, and come to rest facing eastbound.
Scott was taken to Wynn Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The Sheriff’s Office says he was issued traffic tickets, returnable to Rome City Court at a later date.
Rome Fire, AmCare Ambulance, and Rockers Towing assisted at the scene, and Rockers Auto later removed Scott’s vehicle.
