Rick Franklin Corporation is the Northwest's premier heavy construction and railroad contractor. Rick Franklin, President, is the owner of the Company.

Chartered in 1974, RFC is an Oregon based company working in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Northern California. Rick Franklin Corporation (RFC) is an Oregon Corporation, chartered in 1978. The Company’s activities consist of heavy equipment construction for private and corporate business. Rick Franklin started the business in 1974 as a sole proprietor with one D-8 Caterpillar. Over the intervening years he has grown the business considerably and used RFC as a springboard to expand into a variety of other enterprises including the purchase of wood yards, a metals recycling subsidiary and, in 2007, a short-line railroad. Presently the company operates over 100 pieces of rolling stock, as well as 150 pieces of heavy equipment. Over the years RFC has diversified its operations to include variety of services including:

• Land clearing and timber access road building
• Railroad Emergency Services: for derailments and other service interruptions
• Hazardous Waste and Environmental Cleanup
• Site Restoration
• Commodity trans-load and re-load
• Rail car salvage and dismantling
• Metals recycling
• Track construction and rehabilitation
• Flatcar bridge sales including concrete abutments
• Fuels (wood) processing
• Quarry operations
• Heavy haul trucking

Update from last month:

From our yard to the trail. The pedestrian bridge we built here in Lebanon is now in place on the Lebanon Trails system and ready for the community to use.
It's built from a recycled railcar, so it's made to carry a lot more than foot traffic and will be around for decades.

From railcar to trail bridge — this is what we mean when we say we build things that last. Get out and use it! 🚶

Our mobile crushing and screening operation has been busy all season, breaking down blasted rock into precise aggregate for structural fill, road bases, and rail ballast. From excavator to finished product, we control the process — and the quality — from start to finish.

See Tracks? Think Train® Week, a national effort to remind everyone how to stay safe around railroad tracks and trains. As a company that operates heavy rail equipment every day, safety around the tracks isn't just a slogan for us — it's part of how we do business.

A few reminders as you're out and about:
🚸 Only cross tracks at designated crossings
👀 Always expect a train — they can come from either direction, at any time
🚫 Train tracks are private property; never walk or play on them
🚗 Never stop or slow down on tracks, even in traffic

Trains can't stop quickly — it can take over a mile. Let's all do our part to keep our communities safe. 🙏

Built right here in Lebanon, just down the road. 🌉🚧

Our crew just wrapped construction on a new pedestrian bridge for the Lebanon Trails system! Built using our signature recycled flatcar construction, this bridge is currently staged in our yard and will be installed on-site later this month.

It's a small project with a big impact — giving our community safer, more accessible ways to enjoy the trails we all love. We're proud to be part of projects that make Lebanon a little better, one crossing at a time.

The first-ever Steel & Steam is officially in the books, and we are completely blown away by the turnout! Seeing so many families, future equipment operators, and community members fill our yard made all the hard work worth it.

Thank you to everyone who came out to explore the heavy equipment, climb into the cabs, and celebrate our local trades and railroad heritage alongside Albany & Eastern Railroad.

A massive shoutout goes to our dedicated team members, volunteers, food truck vendors, and community partners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event safe, fun, and memorable for everyone.

Round TWO is here! Don't miss the FINAL weekend of the Great Oregon Steam-Up! 🚛💨🚂

Week one was an absolute blast, and our crew is set up and ready for the second and final weekend at Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks, Oregon!

If you missed us last weekend, this is your last chance to see Santa Maria Valley No. 205 up close. Our RFC heavy transport team worked hard hauling, unloading, and staging this historic piece of living rail power so the community could experience Northwest history firsthand.

Come catch RFC and AERC in action before the festival wraps up for the year!
