Are we teachable? Does our pride and ego get in the way of our humility and repentance? Last night I saw Proverbs 15:31-32 in action; "If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise...grow in understanding". A group of believers gathered and shared praises, shared struggles, and shared prayer requests. The things we all had in common were our belief, trust, and faith in God being able to teach us through the Holy Spirit, through His word, and through each other. We all have different education backgrounds, work experiences, ages ranged from 20s to 60s, and single, divorced, and happily married all represented. We were all looking for advice, answers, and better ways to honor God in our daily walk. It's how we should be every day ,we should be known as teachable people versus full of excuses and opinionated. Timothy Keller said it this way, "it is only through repentance, the ultimate teachability, that we can be saved at all". We humble ourselves, believe, and follow Christ, our Lord and Savior, knowing our God knows everything we need. Sadly, we allow our positions or titles, our bank accounts or assets, our education or memberships, or whatever idols we have come between God's plans and our learning. We won't listen or take advice because we don't need it! Christ always listened before speaking and teaching. Never stop learning because you will stop living. Have a blessed weekend and share God's love.
