Are we teachable? Does our pride and ego get in the way of our humility and repentance? Last night I saw Proverbs 15:31-32 in action; "If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise...grow in understanding". A group of believers gathered and shared praises, shared struggles, and shared prayer requests. The things we all had in common were our belief, trust, and faith in God being able to teach us through the Holy Spirit, through His word, and through each other. We all have different education backgrounds, work experiences, ages ranged from 20s to 60s, and single, divorced, and happily married all represented. We were all looking for advice, answers, and better ways to honor God in our daily walk. It's how we should be every day ,we should be known as teachable people versus full of excuses and opinionated. Timothy Keller said it this way, "it is only through repentance, the ultimate teachability, that we can be saved at all". We humble ourselves, believe, and follow Christ, our Lord and Savior, knowing our God knows everything we need. Sadly, we allow our positions or titles, our bank accounts or assets, our education or memberships, or whatever idols we have come between God's plans and our learning. We won't listen or take advice because we don't need it! Christ always listened before speaking and teaching. Never stop learning because you will stop living. Have a blessed weekend and share God's love.

Trial, practice, and a few friends advice and I think I found the combination that's working the best on this older paint job. Dust and most of the orange peel removed, thanks to my tools and their compounds and polish. Pretty sure this is as far as I can go with the amount of clear coat I have to work with. I'll do a little paint swapping this winter but I'm wanting to drive this 56 and have some fun just cruising around town, so it's time to finish this stage.

Psalm 80:4 is a great reminder for me to never give up on our Nation, it's leaders, and our shining light for this world..."How long, Lord God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people". I get tired and frustrated of hearing people complaining, running down, and lying about our great Nation! I've traveled this world, served in the US Air Force for almost 28 years, and I have not seen any other Nation fighting for other's freedom, feeding starving populations, and improving lifestyles as much as our Country. God has blessed our Nation's 250 years and we have blessed others. I believe it's because we have many who know our Lord God Almighty and His supreme power, we have many who pray for others daily and do not focus on their desires and wants, we have many who give generously to others versus only spending on themselves, and we have many who daily live like Christ. God gives us a choice each day to live like Him or to be part of this selfish world. We have a choice each day to stand for God and morality or go along with others evil beliefs. God is still in the business of answering prayers, working miracles, and using people to bless and serve others. The question is, are we experiencing peace from the chaos, seeing God's presence and beauty, and praying for our Nation's success for years to come. He's using us but we need to pray daily more Christians rise up, speak up, and become active in this spiritual battle. Satan is always trying to destroy God's goodness. Have a blessed week and encourage others in their walk!

Slow and steady progress on the 56. Amazing how you have to scratch the whole car up to make it shine again! Sometimes, we have to experience hard times to truly enjoy what God gives and does for us later in life. We're allot like these old classics...just a little touch from the right person and our dreams can get back on track.

The wet sanding is a slow patient building exercise in bringing these old classics back to their glory without a full blown paint job. I wanted to spot check the process and it definitely motivated me to continue. This is not for the faint at heart but you can't ignore the results. I just turn up the music in the shop and enjoy the Journey. This 56 can and will shine again!

What things fill your heart and mind each day? Colossians 3:16 reminds me every week multiple times what should be filling me..."Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom"! The verse goes on to answer the question that comes to mind...How? Of course the obvious answer is reading and studying God's word daily, the most important book you will ever read and it's always telling us the truth. Next, surrounding yourself with Christian brothers and sisters willing to be honest in sharing, teaching, and counseling each other. That's where God's wisdom comes into play and being truthful with each other and caring enough to search God's word for direction and guidance. It's critical for our physical, mental, and spiritual health to have several people you can open up and share your heart with. Lastly singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Your singing to God, so you can't use the excuse you can't sing. He isn't judging your talent but your heart! Changing my music tastes literally changed how I look at people and things each day. I quit listening and singing along with music that encouraged me to sin in thoughts and actions. Our bodies are God's temples, if you are a believer and following Christ. What comes out in words and actions tells everyone around us whom we belong to. Give God all your life, all your problems, and have the faith to know, trust, and believe He has, is, and will take care of all things. Give Him the glory and thank Him constantly for all He provides. Have a blessed weekend and share His love with others...

Working to freshen up the paint on the 56 Chevy. Older paint job and not a lot if clear coat to work with. It has lots of dust in clear coat and the black really shows it. So, doing a lot of wet sanding with 2,000 to 3,000 and then will buff it out...not for the faint at heart but great patience builder...lol. I removed trim and emblems on the back and moving forward.

By God's grace and love we come to know Christ through faith in Him but that's really just the beginning of our spiritual growth. 2 Peter 1:5-7 reminds us of the work we must do to grow spiritually and like most growth it builds logically. "Add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love". The amazing thing about this is the natural progression God put in this growth for us to become more Christ-like. Some of these are harder and take longer than others, self-control jumps out for me, and you can't just skip one and go to the other. We also will be constantly perfecting each of these items our whole lives by our obedience to God and the lessons learned through that obedience. We think we know what good is but until we begin reading and studying God's word, surrounding ourselves with Christian brothers and sisters to sharpen each other and to hold each other accountable, and following the Holy Spirit daily we don't really know goodness. These actions give us the knowledge, help us with self-control, we begin to persevere, and people see the change in us. It's no longer selfish desires that drive us but helping and serving others around us. This leads us to become kinder and having more empathy and patience for others. Then after working through all these things we truly begin loving others...God's greatest commandments for us...love God and love others! We must be constantly working on these to truly bring glory to God in all we do. Share this list, share your struggles, and share God's power in helping you achieve them. Have a blessed week...

Psalms 78:9-10 is a great reminder to me of where my peace, joy, and fulfillment comes from..."The men of Ephraim...they did not keep God's covenant and refused to live by his laws". God has blessed our great Nation because we acknowledged Him and our forefathers knew our only hope of survival was trusting in God. The men in this verse had seen God's wonders, miracles, and victories but they turned from God for idols. They thought they knew more than God and didn't need Him but they were so wrong. We need God's love, grace, and mercy more each and every day He gives us. We know satan's alive and trying to destroy people's lives everyday. As believers and followers of Christ we have seen His wonders, miracles, and He has given us daily victories over our sinful nature. He forgives our sins and provides for us in so many ways when we come to Him and ask. We learn more about His beauty and love for us in His word. We apply His word to our lives to free us from our sinful desires. But our prayers and our reading of God's word is of no use if we don't truly believe, trust, and know God is real! He has to be first and foremost in all our life. We can't expect to use him when needed and do whatever we want the rest of the time...this isn't real salvation and will result in turning from God. God must be real and He must be in charge. You will see change, others will see change, and most important God sees your obedience and change. Have a blessed weekend, celebrate our Nation's 250 birthday, and really celebrate God's control over our lives...
