Make sure ALL your tires are on the ground! 🛞⚠️

The torsion suspension on this axle is worn down, causing the trailer to sit unevenly. This is a common issue we see as torsion axles age. If one tire isn’t carrying its share of the load, it’s time to have your axles inspected.

Ever had a trailer shackle flip on you? 👀

After replacing the axle, we set this trailer back down on the ground and the shackle flipped. Luckily, it’s an easy fix! We jack up the trailer on the opposite side until the suspension unloads enough for the shackle to pop back into the correct position. 🔧

Just another part of getting this trailer back on the road!

What started as a routine bearing pack turned into an important catch! 🔧

While servicing the wheel bearings, we noticed a broken shackle link on the suspension. We replaced the damaged shackle links before they could cause bigger problems on the road.

That’s why we always keep an eye out for more than just the repair you came in for. 👀

Customer brought in this Coleman camping trailer because the brakes weren’t working. He kept pumping grease into the hubs and ended up overfilling them, blowing out the seals, and saturating the brakes with grease. 🫣

More grease isn’t always better! Overfilling your hubs can cause expensive brake repairs.

Today we had a Supra boat in for a bearing service—and the bearings were full of water. 💧

The VAULT system may say the bearings are maintenance-free, but this is exactly why we recommend having them inspected and serviced. Water intrusion can destroy bearings and leave you stranded on the side of the road.

When we replace bearings on a VAULT system, we also replace the races. New bearings deserve new races. 🔧

Don’t wait for a failure to find out there’s a problem.

Boat trailer repair in the shop! 🔧

This coupler had started to crack, creating a serious safety concern. We removed the old coupler, installed a new one, and welded it securely into place.

Another trailer repaired and ready to get back on the road! 💪

CAN LOW RV TIRE PRESSURE MAKE YOUR WHEEL BEARINGS RUN HOTTER?

Yes — low tire pressure can contribute to higher temperatures around the wheel and hub, especially on a heavily loaded RV.

When an RV tire is underinflated, the sidewall flexes more, creating additional rolling resistance and heat. It can also affect how the load is carried through the tire, wheel, hub and bearing assembly.

But here’s the important part: if ONE hub is noticeably hotter than the others, don’t automatically blame tire pressure.

A hotter-than-normal hub can also be caused by:

* Bearings adjusted too tight
* Low, contaminated or failing bearing grease
* Worn or damaged bearings or races
* A dragging electric brake
* Improper brake adjustment
* A leaking grease seal
* Uneven loading or an overloaded axle/tire
* Low tire pressure

A good diagnostic clue: If all your tires are low and everything is running a little warmer, tire pressure may be contributing. If one wheel is substantially hotter than the other three, we would be more concerned about something happening at that individual wheel — particularly the brakes or wheel bearings.

Remember: tire temperature and wheel-bearing temperature are NOT the same thing. An underinflated tire can become extremely hot even when the wheel bearings are functioning properly.

Check your COLD tire pressures before every travel day.

Check your hubs when stopping for fuel or rest.

Compare temperatures from wheel to wheel.

Investigate anything that’s noticeably hotter than the others.

A few minutes checking your tires and hubs can help catch a developing problem before it becomes a roadside repair.

This is probably the WORST thing you can do to your boat trailer… put it in the lake. 😂🌊

But what are you supposed to do—carry the boat in? 🤷‍♀️

Every time you back your trailer into the water, your bearings, seals, brakes, and hubs are exposed to water. If a seal is bad, water can get into the hub, contaminate the grease, and start rusting your bearings.

That’s why regular bearing packs and inspections are so important on boat trailers. Don’t wait until you’re stranded on the side of the road with a failed bearing.
