The Trace is older than America. Much older. Long before there was a Declaration of Independence, this path was already worn deep by the feet of the Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Natchez peoples who traveled and traded across these lands for more than 10,000 years. Then came post riders. Boatmen walking home from New Orleans. Soldiers. Settlers. By the time America was 20, the Trace was already a national road. It carries every chapter of this country's story — including the ones told before the country existed.
