Another satisfied customer back on the road!

Today’s project was replacing the front struts and rear shocks on this 2011 Acura RDX with 142k miles. The original front struts were leaking and causing uneven front tire wear, making it the perfect time for replacement. Since all four suspension components were still original, I also replaced the rear shocks to restore the vehicle’s ride quality and handling.

One of the best parts? I completed all four corners, both front struts and both rear shocks, for the roughly the same price a local chain repair shop quoted for replacing just the front struts.

If your vehicle is showing signs of uneven tire wear, excessive bouncing, clunking noises, or just doesn’t ride like it used to, it may be time to have your suspension inspected and repaired.

With ZatchetMaster Mobile Auto Services LLC, I bring professional maintenance and repairs directly to you, helping you save both time and money.

🔋 Don’t Get Stranded — Check Your Battery! 🚗

Your car battery doesn’t usually give much warning before it quits… and when it does, it’s never at a convenient time.

Most batteries last around 4 years on average, but here’s something a lot of people don’t realize 👇
☀️ Batteries are actually more likely to fail in the summer heat than in the winter cold.
Heat breaks them down internally, and by the time cold weather hits, they’re already on their last leg.

A quick battery check can help you avoid:
❌ No-start situations
❌ Getting stuck at work, home, or out running errands
❌ Unexpected replacement at the worst time

Signs your battery might be on its way out:
⚠️ Slow engine crank
⚠️ Dim lights or electrical issues
⚠️ Battery is 4+ years old

A simple test can tell you where it’s at and replacements are, usually, quick and easy.

🚗 Don’t Forget Your Cabin Air Filter! 🌬️

Most people don’t think about it, but your cabin air filter plays a big role in the air you breathe inside your vehicle.

Over time, it gets packed with dust, dirt, pollen, and debris… especially here in the Midwest with all the changing seasons.

👉 A good rule of thumb:
Replace it once a year or every 15,000–20,000 miles

A clean cabin filter helps:
✔️ Improve airflow from your vents
✔️ Keep your A/C and heat working efficiently
✔️ Reduce dust and allergens inside your vehicle
✔️ Keep that “musty smell” away

If your vents seem weak or it smells a little funky when the air kicks on… it might be time 👀

It’s a quick, affordable maintenance item that makes a bigger difference than you’d think.

🔧 Busy weekend for ZatchetMaster Mobile Auto Services LLC! 🚗💨

Knocked out some maintenance for a couple great customers this weekend.

First up was a 2013 Toyota Tundra, with 143k miles, getting an oil change along with a door latch/lock actuator assembly replacement to get everything working smoothly again.

Then I wrapped things up with a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, with 241k miles. That one got an oil change plus spark plugs and ignition coil boots. That Tacoma was a beautiful truck and running even better after some fresh maintenance. 🔥

Jobs like these are a great reminder that staying on top of regular maintenance keeps your vehicle running strong for the long haul.

Looking forward to the next one already… I’ve got a spark plug and ignition coil replacement job scheduled on a 2009 Toyota Matrix coming up soon!

Mobile repair success today! 🚗💪
Had a 2009 Toyota Matrix 2.4L needing an oil change and needing to take care of a nagging check engine light. A few weeks back, I scanned it and saw a whole cluster of downstream O2 sensor codes (the usual high/low voltage and circuit stuff for Bank 1 Sensor 2).
With 16+ years turning wrenches, I made what I call my ‘SWAG’ (Scientific Wild A&$ Guess) and decided it was time for a new downstream oxygen sensor. Old one put up a fight during removal (they always do when they’ve been baked on for years 🔥!), but we prevailed.
Fresh sensor in, oil changed, codes cleared… and boom a smooth running Matrix with the check engine and multiple other lights off. Customer happy and another win for experience with a little guesswork! I’m enjoying these mobile side jobs. Who’s next?!

Quick disclaimer though: A SWAG like this works great when the codes line up this clearly and you’ve seen the pattern a hundred times, but it’s not always the move. Replacing parts based solely on codes without full testing (wiring, exhaust leaks, live data, etc.) can lead to throwing money at the wrong thing. Always diagnose properly when possible! These were the codes stored.

P0136: O2 (A/F) Sensor Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0137: Oxygen Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0138: Oxygen Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
And P0607: Control Module Performance (which can sometimes tag along with sensor/wiring gremlins)

Wrapped up a rear brake job on a 2013 Toyota Tundra today! The pads were down to about 2mm… which is basically the automotive equivalent of “living on the edge.” 😅
Uneven wear? Yep… the caliper slides were sticking like a toddler to a juice box.

New pads, new rotors, clean hub surfaces, fresh hardware, and properly cleaned/lubricated slides… all taken care of. Smooth quiet topping unlocked. 😎🛑

🚗 2013 Toyota Tundra – Alternator Replacement Adventure 🔧

Not every repair goes exactly according to plan, even with years of experience. Last night I replaced the alternator on a 2013 Toyota Tundra. It’s not the toughest job out there, but labor guides still call for around 4 hours and this was my first time doing one on a Tundra with the 5.7 v8.

I got started around 7:30pm, pulled the old alternator off and compared it side by side with the new one. When I spun the new alternator in my hand, it made a clicking sound that didn’t sit right with me. My gut told me that if I installed it, I’d just be pulling it right back off… the noise was bound to be worse with the engine running.

So at 9:30 at night, the customer and I tracked down another alternator across town before the store closed. I checked that replacement right at the counter… quiet and smooth, just like it should be.

Got back to the customer’s house, wrapped up the job around 11:30pm, and was happy to see everything running perfectly: no noise, proper charging, and a happy customer.

💡 Takeaway: New parts don’t always mean good parts. This was a great reminder to double-check parts before hitting the job site… saves time, saves hassle, and ensures the customer gets the quality repair they deserve.

👉 If you’re looking for honest mobile auto repair that puts quality first, I’ve got you covered.
Whether it’s charging issues, no-starts, or routine maintenance, I bring the tools, the experience, and the integrity right to your driveway.

🚗🔧 Recent Save: 2013 Honda CR-V That Was Completely Dead

Got called out to a 2013 Honda CR-V that wouldn’t start and had zero electrical power inside — no dash lights, no dome lights, nothing.

The owner had already tried jump-starting it and even installed a new battery… still totally dead. When I arrived, I attempted a jump-start as well with no response. Something was definitely off.

After a little digging, I found the real culprit: a blown 100-amp main fuse between the battery and the under-hood fuse block. Once I replaced the fuse, power came back instantly and the CR-V fired right up like nothing ever happened.

👉 In most cases, this type of fuse only blows when the jump-start cables get connected incorrectly — positive to negative, negative to positive. It happens more often than you’d think, and it can completely kill power to the vehicle.

I’m always willing help to diagnose minor electrical issues, no-starts, or most anything that’s got you stuck.
