Took a trip down to Buford, GA this afternoon and scooped up probably the most solid mk1 I’ve ever seen. Lil Eddie is his name. 83 GTI factory sunroof car. Couple of dings here and there, but zero rust. Nadda. None. Engine bay has been converted to mk4 mounts so I’m thinking Eddie is going to get an ALH tdi.
Just what I needed. Another project.

Picked up this 1982 Vanagon Westfalia diesel L in April. It has a 1z tdi out of a 96 Passat. Interior is all original with the exception of the abs panels. Doing some upgrades to get it where I want it before we set out on some adventures. New top seals and all window seals from middle forward. Method mr707 wheels with BFG K02 tires. Power Flex complete poly bushings. RMW bumpers, swing out shelf with switchback upper rack and tire carrier. iABED serpentine water pump pulley. Brickwerks full silicone coolant hose kit. Truck mirrors. Hella 500 driving lights. EcoFlow Glacier fridge/freezer and Wave2 ac/heat. Jeff Huber at Gear Garage is building a 091 DK 5.47rp 4spd with Peloquin L*D and taller 3rd/4th. Can’t wait to get out and see some of this great country and make some lifelong memories.

So a couple weekends ago I left out from Lauren’s, South Carolina Friday 12:30am and drove to Monroe, Louisiana to pick up this 1 owner 79 inari silver rabbit and was back home Sunday by 4am. Sure it looks like a giant turd right now, but it will be glorious when it’s finished.

Regressing into madness. Traded the for this #1978 drove the little bo**er home without a hiccup. Runs strong. Going to be a fun little build later on down the road.

They’re still out there. 1 owner mignonette green 59 been off the road since 1976 and nestled away in a garage. About to pull this little jewel out of her forgotten crypt and start making memories once again.

VW’s in the Valley 8 Sept. 19th 2020. Great little cruise up there, hanging out with awesome friends and a super scenic show. I’ll be going back to this one.
