Connor Penix Racing kicked off the night by setting FAST TIME against a strong field of 23 cars! ⏱️🔥

Connor started fourth in his heat race and raced his way to the front, battling with Samantha Dozier before taking the HEAT RACE WIN! 🏆

The Main event invert was 8 🤷‍♂️ He rolled off eighth in the Main Event and finished the night in eighth place.

Nascimento Motorsports brought a good car to Portland International Raceway for the ARCA Menards Series West race last weekend. Team had some carburetor issues in practice that limited driver Kyle Keller Racing to only 4 laps of practice. Thanks to David Lewis @ Yates Racing engines and crew chief Mike Nascimento we were able to get the problem fixed and the car ready for qualifying. We went out for the timed qualifying session and during our first green flag lap the yellow came out for a couple spun car. We had to come off the track and get back in line to try again. After track was cleared Kyle got another shot at it. On his 2nd green flag lap the radiator was getting up to temp and he was running up on a lapper just past the temporary start finish line. Kyle chose to pull into pit lane instead of risking the car getting hot on the next lap and knowing the lapper was going to jeopardize speed on the next lap. Kyle Qualified 12th. On the start of the race Kyle got up on the wheel and came out of turn 2 running 6th. He picked them off one at a time moving up to 2nd at one point and then running 3rd at the break. Consistently running top 3 lap times while running away from the pack. After the break the car was even better with crew chief Mike Nascimento making some good changes. The 19 car snuck by on a restart but Kyle set him up and passed him for 2nd, then shortly after the transmission expired. The 19 went on to win the race. Frustrating is an understatement, but we are happy with the way Kyle and the team competed and showed they can contend in the Arca West. We will keep chasing checkers as the team heads back to oval tracks for All American Speedway and Madera Speedway over the next 2 months. The team feels like those are 2 of their strongest tracks with a runner up finish at All American in 2024 and a pole at Madera in 2023.

Eric "Bubba" Nascimento is poised to make his second ARCA start of the season for Nascimento Motorsports, the family-owned team he is part of, at Sonoma Raceway's General Tire 150 this Friday. The event marks a family affair with Dad Eric Sr. serving as owner-spotter, Uncle Mike as crew chief, Uncle Chad as car chief, Uncle Rob handling tires, his brother Ethan acting as second spotter-driver coach, and a crew completed by close friends and family. In his only other ARCA West start of 2026 at Kern, Bubba secured a second-place finish. It has been five years since Bubba first started competing in ARCA West at Sonoma Raceway. He debuted in 2021 for Bill McAnally Racing, where he made one of his five starts at Sonoma. A former go-kart standout, Bubba has consistently performed well at Sonoma, running in the top five in all his races since 2021 but has yet to reach the podium. His best qualifying spot was fourth in 2022, and his best finish was sixth in 2025. This year, Bubba aims to surpass both personal bests. The team has marked this race on their calendar since last year's event, determined to settle unfinished business.

“This year's race field doesn't feature road course specialists or regular Cup drivers, which I believe gives me an edge. As a part-time ARCA West driver, I only get a few chances each year to compete against these drivers, so we select races where we can best represent our sponsors and contend for wins. I've been seeking my first ARCA West win since 2021 and have been runner-up four times in my 30 starts. I feel optimistic about my chances this week; we just need to keep our focus and execute," Bubba said.

Although Wyatt Flowers Racing and Connor Penix Racing demonstrated exceptional speed and youthful talent, their results were ultimately impacted by mechanical issue and accident.

The team is set to return for Round 3 on June 13, 2026, determined to claim another trophy.
