Greg Plitt wasn’t only a fitness legend. He was my friend, and for a chapter of my life, I had a front-row seat to the discipline, intensity, vision, and fire that made him unforgettable.
I watched him edit videos until the sun came up, building subscription-based fitness content before most people understood what that business model could become. From 4:30am to 6:30, I would hide out in the Burbank mountain range with his three pit bulls before he headed to Miami Fitness to film the week’s workouts. That was Greg—relentless, focused and completely unwilling to live an ordinary life.
We had real heart-to-heart conversations. He knew how to get under my skin, challenge my thinking and remind me of who I was when I started doubting myself. We made a pact that I have carried for the last 16 years: never remain anywhere that requires you to abandon yourself, lower your standards or become smaller to make someone else comfortable.
That lesson has followed me through every chapter of my life. I was never created to settle for a small existence, a convenient love or a life built around someone else’s limitations. I will walk away, rebuild and keep going until I create everything I know I am capable of.
When you live closely with someone who carries that much inner power, a piece of it stays inside you. Greg’s strength, drive and refusal to accept mediocrity still live in me today.
He was the kind of man men wanted to become and women wanted to know. Yet what mattered most was the person beneath the image—the loyalty, the conversations, the ambition and the belief that life was meant to be fully lived.
Some people leave your life, but they never leave your spirit.
Forever a legend. We miss you, Greg.
