Got out for a nice little ride on the scout.
Shout out to Dean Day for getting my scout looking spiffy with my new spoked wheels.
This year makes ten years and almost 15000 miles on old Black Bettie.
Also thank you Mike Krenzelak for going out of your way to get these wheels to me.

There's nothing like a ride on an old bike to make you really appreciate modern bikes! But there is something charming and essential about vintage motorcycles that just can't be captured by new machinery. Taking it easy, this little '48 T100 cruised comfortably for about half an hour today at about 55 mph. The suspension (!) sucks, the brakes are ok, but the sound and feeling are pretty wonderful. Iowa back roads are where bikes like this really shine. Back in their day, they were truly road burners, but today they're just happy to trundle along, weak points and all, almost like they're just along for the ride as much as I am. And that's pretty neat.
