This vehicle is extremely well maintained but when the customer dropped it off after discussing their normal maintenance routine they mentioned they frequently use their monthly membership to the local automatic car wash with brushes. We discussed the dangers their soaps and brushes can pose to paint over the long haul and they requested we polish the paint to clean it up a little and put oil back into the paint to restore gloss and shine.

We dialed this Volvo in inside and out and the customer was SO happy with the end result and will soon be scheduling their spouses vehicle for the same service.

That’s what it’s all about! Educating my customers and offering options for every price point. Thankful for customers like this and their continued trust 🥰

REAL WORLD Ceramic Coating Test | Part 1: Prep & Application

*This series is all about educating customers and viewers on ceramic coatings and what COULD happen if they’re not maintained ideally.

In part 1 of this 3 part series we’re taking a closer look at a customers vehicle we coated Dec ‘24.

Part 2 of this series will share a 6 month update on how this coating looks and I also share products I recommend to maintain the coating and restore it if it’s struggling from lack of maintenance.

Part 3 will be sharing a 1.5 yr update on that SAME coating and again resolving any issues the coating might have from lack of maintenance.

One of the things that I’d like to think sets A2D apart from other detail shops is the education that I try to provide for my customers. I provide that on my YouTube channel, here and in person. I go over how to maintain a ceramic coated vehicle and how to get the most out of your investment. I understand that coatings don’t come cheap and I want you to get the most out of your investment.

This customer has been doing a great job at keeping up with maintenance after we saw it last June, however, over the winter- due to life and cold temperatures- struggled with keeping up with maintenance. As a result, the vehicle went all winter long not being washed and then in the spring only received two touchless watches from the automatic car wash. While touchless washes ARE safer on the clearcoat, ceramic coatings do require some sort of CONTACT (be it a hand wash, rinseless wash or even DRYING it with a ceramic drying aid to assist) to remove the film from the surface. If left on the paint for an extended period of time, film, salt and dirt can weaken the hydrophobic layer of your coating overtime and cut its life short and that’s what’s happening with this coating.

The customer and I were able to figure out what could’ve caused the coating to struggle and were able to create a plan moving forward to make sure that this vehicle stays protected and that he can get the most out of his investment. And now she’s clean, ✨ and the coating is refreshed properly.
