On Monday, December 9, 2024, at approximately 9:40 pm, personnel from Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision on Sierra Highway between Technology
Drive and Rancho Vista Boulevard, in the City of Palmdale.

The preliminary facts of this investigation indicate that a male tow truck driver (pedestrian) was standing outside his vehicle near a stranded motorist on Sierra Highway. An unknown vehicle collided with the disabled vehicle and pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle continued northbound on Sierra Highway toward Rancho Vista Boulevard without stopping.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the pedestrian; however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the traffic collision or the identification of the driver/vehicle involved is encouraged to call Palmdale Station’s Traffic Department at 661-272-2400.

The presence of alcohol and/or drugs is currently under investigation.

Traffic Investigator Detective Elizabeth Schneider responded to the scene. Sierra Highway was closed between Technology Drive and Rancho Vista Boulevard during the scene investigation.
