A beautiful dock should do more than look good.
A FEMA case study highlights how floating docks at one Florida marina sustained only minimal damage during Hurricanes Charley and Wilma, despite severe storm conditions in the surrounding area.
Because floating docks can rise and fall with changing water levels, properly engineered systems may offer important advantages in areas affected by storms, flooding and fluctuating water conditions.
It is a strong reminder that dock design, anchoring and site-specific engineering matter.
