⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE | EASTERN COLORADO

The Storm Prediction Center is watching eastern Colorado closely this afternoon, and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch may be needed later today.
The SPC currently puts the probability of a watch being issued at 60%.
⛈️ WHAT WE'RE WATCHING
Thunderstorms are beginning to develop over the higher terrain and should gradually move east onto the plains through the mid to late afternoon.
Initially, storms should be fairly isolated, but the environment is favorable for a few storms to become strong to severe.
Main threat this afternoon:
🧊 Large hail, potentially up to 2 inches in diameter
Some storms may become supercells, which would increase the potential for very large hail.
Later this evening:
💨 The wind threat may become more significant.
Storms could begin merging into larger clusters as they move across eastern Colorado. If that happens, damaging wind gusts of 65 to 75 mph will become possible.
📍 TIMING
Storm development should increase through the mid to late afternoon.
The SPC says a Severe Thunderstorm Watch could be issued around 3 to 4 PM MDT.
For now, this does not mean everyone will see severe weather, and a watch has not yet been issued. It means conditions are becoming increasingly favorable for severe thunderstorms, and we'll need to watch how storms develop over the next couple of hours.
If you're along the Palmer Divide, Front Range or eastern Colorado plains, keep an eye on the weather this afternoon and evening.
