We raced Lakeport Speedway last night for round 2 of the modifieds. We swapped from the 604 crate motor to a compression 383 along with 2 speed transmission for this race. We had transmission issues in Friday practice in the #24 modified driven by Mikey Collins. So Saturday we swapped transmissions, removed the restrictor plate and made a couple of other changes. We would have missed the first set of practice if it weren’t for my nephew Michael Knight Jr. We were fastest in the first set of practice, 2nd fastest in the second set. So started off rough but we were fast. Noticed an oil leak, we started addressing it and In doing so I forgot to put fuel in the Mikey’s modified. “It ain’t got no gas in it!” He ran out trying to qualify (my bad) so he had to start in the back for the main event. He drove a good race and finished 6th in the 15 car field. Last minute I decided to jump in Klintion Waite’s #18 modified to put another car on the track and do some R&D with the car. I qualified 12th so I was just cruising around feeling her out. She was good so I figured it was time to start making my way through the back markers and got smoked—just a racing deal. I could have been a bit more patient and waited for the cars to get single file before passing them. I had position on the inside and got squeezed and at the same time hit from the back causing me to climb over the LF of the car on my outside, so that ended my night. We have some repairs to do before the next race at Lakeport Speedway. Win wreck or fireball, it’s always an exciting night of racing. Thanks to Mike Doss and crew for putting on a great night of racing at Lakeport Speedway. Thanks to all the racers who came out to race. Thanks to all our sponsors:
