Here’s a fun event hosted by our residents! I can finally say I made it to the Kentucky Derby—Sanlan style. The ladies looked stunning in their beautiful hats as they cheered on their husbands, who took on the roles of racing horses, moving to the rhythm of colorful dice rolled by the host. Each “horse” proudly carried a memorable name like Eric the El Dorado Eagle or Phil the Deville Pistol.

After the race, the festivities continued with a contest for the best hat, followed by a lovely meal shared together. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with one another and get to know each other better.

To our incredible residents: your energy, your generosity, and your willingness to show up and have fun for a cause bigger than ourselves is what makes the Hunger Games fundraiser such a success. You didn’t just participate—you made a difference. Special thanks to the volunteers who provided so many hours and to the organizers Mary and Karl, Janet and Art, Deb and Dan and Kathy and Jim and the list goes on. - I saw people collecting donations door to door and even collecting cans to recycle and donate the proceeds.

In partnership with KidsPack, the funds raised will help provide meals for school children who rely on school breakfasts and lunches during the week—but may not have the same access to food over the weekend. What you did together matters.

And most importantly, it matters to the children who will feel the impact of your generosity in the most basic and powerful way—through a meal.

Those of you that knew Chloe, you should know she's doing great and happy to have seen some of our residents come to Kokomo's in Winter Haven - her business venture. Just a reminder. Besides the fact that fireworks are prohibited at Sanlan RV & Golf Resort, be aware that there's a fire/fireworks ban in effect for Polk County. According to the Polk County Sheriff Department you could face fines of-up-to $500 and even 60 days of jail time. Please follow the rules and stay safe.

The Polk County-wide burn ban remains in effect — personal-use fireworks prohibited.

Polk County Fire Rescue wants to remind everyone that the setting off of noncommercial fireworks is prohibited under the burn ban. Professional shows put on by municipalities will still be allowed under the ban.
