Not every repair happens on a clean shop floor.
Sometimes the job has to be done in the dirt, in the driveway, or wherever the vehicle sits. The location doesn't change the quality of the repair. We do it right no matter where it takes place.
This 2005 Hummer H2 6.0L came to us with a major oil leak and dangerously low oil pressure. The owner had already been told by another shop that the oil pan gasket was the cause of both issues. After hearing that diagnosis, we knew there was a good chance we were going to find more problems.
Once inspected, we found several critical mistakes:
❌ The oil pickup O-ring was never checked or replaced while the oil pan was off. On LS-based engines, a failed pickup O-ring is one of the most common causes of low oil pressure.
❌ An aftermarket oil pan gasket was installed when the OEM gasket is not only superior, but often costs less.
❌ No RTV was applied at the four critical corners where the oil pan meets the timing cover and rear cover, creating a guaranteed leak point.
We corrected everything the right way:
✅ New OEM oil pan gasket
✅ Replaced the cracked oil pickup O-ring
✅ Thoroughly cleaned and degreased the undercarriage
✅ Verified proper oil pressure and leak-free operation
The results speak for themselves:
🔥 Oil pressure increased from a dangerous 5 PSI at hot idle to a healthy 28-30 PSI hot.
🔥 No more leaks.
🔥 One more 6.0L back on the road the way GM intended.
Parts swapping fixes symptoms. Proper diagnosis fixes problems.
