A few months back I was called out to come look at this truck. Was making a horrible intermittent turbo noise but no codes. Was low on oil. And low on boost. My scan tool died and I couldn’t do any further testing. To me it sounded like a turbo but also a possible stuck injector. We dropped it at Ford and they came back with “alls good. Just needs a new filter”. Well we installed a new filter and all seemed well for about a week. Then on his way home. Mass amount of smoke and 0 boost. This is what I found.

This turned into a nightmare. We found something that we didn’t want to see or like seeing. I still haven’t gotten the stuck injector out of 6. So I now have sent it to a machine shop to have them punch it for me. Thoughts??

After finding this work that was done by a shop here is Washington. Shame on you. But now I have to deal with the corrosion of the injectors that are stuck. If you have any ideas of how to get them out or a tool that works rally well. I’m all ears

Client said car shut down thought it was a battery. Brought a battery and saw he was trying to jump it. (My fault for not double checking) installed battery and motor free spins. No compression sound. Had it towed home. Compression test showed 150-190 psi. Installed new plugs and we had the old ones out. Still no start. Saw the timing belt to be warn out and cracked. But no missing teeth and still turned when cranking the motor. Throwing codes for peddle and throttle body. Throttle body was only pulling open 26%. Installed new one now getting 56%. When cranking the lot or still sounds like a lack of compression. Called in a favor to a colleague and we come back Saturday. He asked that I remove the crank bolt and see if we can test the timing belt tensioner. That’s when we saw the motor was out of time. By about 45 degrees. Question I have is how I was able to still get compression?
Has anyone ever seen a belt do this? Water pump pulley and tensioner pulley were walking around. Found why the belt did this but never saw one shred like this

Found the head gasket on this one to have been leaking at just over 100k miles. Changed the guides and found this lovely issue. Anyone else ever find this ??

Client got lucky with this one. Working on a. 2012 Chevy sonic with 125k miles. He was told that he needed an oil pan reseal. But after looking at it I noticed it also needed the front cover resealed. He didn’t want to spend the money as he wanted to sell it. After dropping the oil pan we found out plastic parts. Chevy has had a problem with their cars in the 2010-18 range that the timing chain guides brake off and then the chain jumps timing. Then need a motor. We got approval to fix it. After cleaning the front and installing new guides and chain with tensioner I was cleaning out the pickup tube and found plenty of plastic stuck in the screen. Back together and running very smooth. Client might still be selling the car it is a manual with 1.4 turbo.
