Great news folks...... after watching 50 years of good will being slowly eroded by the poor customer service at the gas pumps since the big changeover, we finally convinced the new owners to make the needed change. Beginning tomorrow, Monday, Feb 13 the non English speaking gas attendant that has been irritating everyone for the last 2 months has 'left the building'! Customer service is now back at the pumps where we speak English and when Freddy is working, Nosotros hablamos ingles y espanol (we speak English and Spanish). We are very sorry for any problems that happened before and appreciate your understanding.
Gas pumps open 5:00am to 9:00 pm 7 days/week
Al's Auto Repair 7:30 am to 5:pm Mon-Fri Optimum's customer service stinks. We have been working on switching the phone over for 6 weeks, still having issues every afternoon.....we are on the case......they don't have a clue.....bear with us.

Happy New Year friends, Health and Happiness to all.
I think by now you all know after more than 50 years, Al's Spirit has, umm......moved on so to speak, ;- ) The 'spirit' still lives on in the shop as Al's Auto Repair w/Ryan at the helm and myself making cameo appearances, doing NJ motor vehicle inspections and keeping an eye on overall operations. For vehicle repair questions, appointments, and NJ Inspections please call Ryan at 973-663-3056 for all your repair and maintenance needs. With the flood of new traffic at the gas pumps has come a small array of problems, mostly related to the language barrier as the gas attendant speaks very minimal English. Please bare with us, I am working behind the scenes to remedy this. All questions and complaints relating to gasoline sales should be addressed by contacting the new owners directly, Paul Sr. @ 201-336-2781 and Paul Jr. @ 201-916-3024. This will facilitate resolutions to any issues and your comments to them will help improve customer service. I will say here, there is little to no customer service at the pumps until after 4 pm when our regular crew, the people you know are on duty. I am not happy w/the feedback I've been receiving about certain activities that have been brought to my attention. Please be assured business inside the shop still operates with customer service and satisfaction as our #1 goal, as it has been for a half-century......Hope to see you there!

Hear ye, Hear ye! $3.59/gallon of regular, now cash or credit same price! Spread the news, come one, come all! More good news friends....We have decided to place a new management team in-house to update our operation. Having this new team onboard provides us with much greater purchasing power, equating to lower prices at the pumps for you! In addition, beginning Monday, November 5th, 2022 we have expanded the hours of weekday operation, 5a.m. to 8:30 p.m. providing more flexibility and convenience for all to enjoy our lower prices and our continued 5-star service. Expanded week-end hours to be announced shortly. This is a win-win situation that has only been made possible through the support from our outstanding community for over 50 years. Over the last 2 months we have been enjoying cheaper gasoline as the price has been manipulated down due to the upcoming mid-term national elections,,,as I keep this page apolitical I won't say more here. East Coast fuel reserves may be the lowest ever....last week a huge refinery that services the mid-west blew up and now we have a hurricane bearing down on Florida sure to disrupt. We know 'they' don't need a reason to raise fuel prices, but when they have a reason, like a hurricane...Oh boy, no good crisis will be wasted, to paraphrase a politician. Wholesale gasoline has jumped 20 cents in the last 2 business days.....as always, Be Safe, Stay alert, and Be Prepared !

Wait, you mean a person can spend $5,000.00 every year on maintenance and repairs on their present vehicle and save as much over the annual cost of owning a new vehicle? If this is true that old jalopy will be better than new as time goes on and cash on the side would accumulate nicely.....$25,000 in five years....$50,000 in 10 years. I don't know anybody who spends $5k a year on repairs....nevertheless........
A recent report from the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) indicates that the annual cost of new vehicle ownership has exceeded $10,000 a year. As compared to 2021, new vehicle ownership for 2022 has risen from $9,666 a year (or $805.50 per month), to $10,728 a year (or $894.00 per month). This reflects a 9% increase and over $1,000 more a year in expenses to consumers.

New car ownership in 2022 is significantly more expensive than in years past due to gas prices.

Wow, how quickly this summer is moving along! The needed rain aside, it's been a wonderful season weather-wise, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. We also have gasoline prices falling inexplicably, as geopolitically and economically speaking, they shouldn't be. This brings me to the point of this post......very little has changed. It's been a good summer to relax a little and enjoy the lower gasoline prices.

It's been on my mind for a few weeks now...fuel rationing. It's already begun due to the personal economics each one of us has to bear, and this past week we were unable to receive Hi-Test as the terminal was out. We waited for an extra 12 hrs, and still no hi-test when we needed it. The older people amongst us will remember gasoline rationing and I'll explain how it looked from a station owner. We were allotted 80% of the gasoline we sold in the same month a year prior. Our gallonage is calculated from the purchases of our loyal community customer base who had to make do with 20% less. There was no room for 'new' customers once the rationing began. Be sure to get to know your local merchants because when this becomes a reality, we will do our best to keep those who have helped keep our business alive, with gasoline. Everyone is treated equally, but our loyal community is special. The following video prompted me to post today. Skip to the 6-minute mark to get past the intro.

UPDATE: The day after we received our last delivery the wholesale price dropped over 20 cents causing us to post uncompetitive prices while only realizing a 2 cent/gal GROSS profit. Some days you are the bug, other days you are the windshield! Thank you to our loyal community for supporting us through this time..(we will not forget you!) The market has stabilized and we are back in the game. Additionally, cash customers no longer have to pay the credit and debit card fee the card processing banks charge us.
