Lake City Chamber Celebrates New Ownership of Whitewater Canvas
LAKE CITY, MN — The Lake City Chamber of Commerce celebrated Whitewater Canvas, LLC with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 21, recognizing owner Brady Herber and a new chapter for the Lake City business.
Whitewater Canvas has been operating in Lake City for approximately a year and a half, but the story behind the business began well before its arrival in the community. John Derouin originally founded Whitewater Canvas in Dover, Minnesota, and later purchased Dave's Canvas in Lake City. Brady joined the business as an apprentice, learning the trade and gaining hands-on experience before purchasing the business from John earlier this year.
Now as owner, Brady is continuing the Whitewater Canvas tradition while growing the business and its presence in the Lake City area. Whitewater Canvas provides custom canvas work and repair services, with strong support and connections within Lake City's boating community, including the Lake City Marina and Pelican Point Yacht Club and Resort.
As the boating season winds down and boats come out of the water, Whitewater Canvas will also offer a variety of off-season services. Customers can bring in boat seats and other items in need of repair, as well as inquire about custom projects such as patio furniture covers and other protective canvas work. The winter months provide an ideal opportunity to complete repairs and custom projects ahead of the next boating and outdoor season.
"We're excited to celebrate Brady as he takes this next step in ownership," said Heather Thomas, President & CEO of the Lake City Chamber of Commerce. "Whitewater Canvas is a great fit for a community like Lake City, where boating and outdoor recreation are such an important part of who we are. We're thrilled to have this service available locally and look forward to seeing Brady continue to grow the business."
Chamber staff, ambassadors, local business representatives, friends and family joined Brady for the August 21 ribbon cutting to celebrate his ownership and Whitewater Canvas's continued investment in the Lake City community.
The Lake City Chamber of Commerce congratulates Brady and Whitewater Canvas on this exciting milestone and encourages the community to keep the business in mind for canvas projects and repairs throughout the upcoming winter season.
