Meet Joel, an active duty United States Air Force member, a nonprofit founder, a father, and our July 2026 Hero of the Month.

Four hours after his second daughter was born, he left for Basic Military Training. He arrived on his birthday.

Not long after, he deployed. Near the end of that deployment he was selected to serve alongside an Army unit in Afghanistan, extending his time away and putting him in greater danger. His wife Emily knew more than she was ever told. She found medals and decorations tucked away in storage bins he never talked about.

That Christmas, their oldest daughter told him she did not want any presents. She just wanted her daddy home.

He came back changed. Like many veterans, the transition was hard. What helped was getting outside. Hunting. Being in the woods with people who understood. He started taking friends on trips, paying out of his own pocket. Then he turned it into something bigger. He founded Battlefield to Backwoods Veteran Outdoors, a nonprofit committed to reducing veteran and first responder su***de rates through the healing power of the outdoors. In their first year alone they hosted over 200 veterans and first responders across 10 states. Deer hunts, fishing trips, backcountry adventures. Getting people outside. Getting them back to themselves.

At home he coaches his two daughters through wrestling, both state qualifiers. Every Tuesday he drives his wife's 84 year old grandfather to the American Legion so he can be around people.

His wife Emily said it best. "He notices people. He cares. He shows up."

Joel, you have spent your life quietly putting others first. It is time we put you first.

🌟 This Week's Employee Spotlight: Mr. Don Cadmus 🌟
Some people come to Camping World looking for their next adventure... Mr. Don Cadmus came in as a customer 13 years ago, and little did he know, he'd soon become part of the Camping World family himself. Funny how life works sometimes. 💙🏕️
One of Don's favorite memories is about a customer who became much more than that—a true friend.
After helping General Hall, a four-star Vietnam War veteran, trade his motorhome for a larger one, their friendship took off. Don, who proudly served in the U.S. Navy, found himself looking forward to General Hall's morning visits. They'd sit and talk for hours, with General Hall sharing incredible stories and history lessons from his life and military service. Those conversations became memories Don will always treasure. Every Memorial Day, we made sure to celebrate General Hall and honor his service. Those moments meant a great deal to Don and are memories he'll always hold close.
When asked what advice he'd give someone just starting at Camping World, Don didn't hesitate:
"Listen more than you talk."
It's simple advice, but it's one of the reasons he's built so many lasting relationships over the years.
His favorite part about working here? The people.
As Don puts it, "Just like Forrest Gump said, 'Life is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get.'" 🍫😄 Every customer brings a different story, every day brings something new, and that's exactly what keeps the job exciting after all these years.
This month's goal is to welcome new customers while reconnecting with familiar faces and earning even more repeat business.

A few days ago, we gave you a behind-the-scenes look at Denny hard at work on this beautiful Redwood... now it's time for the big reveal! 🤩

What a transformation! Denny installed brand-new vinyl flooring, carefully reinstalled the kitchen island, and put the bar back in, bringing this beautiful RV back together with incredible craftsmanship.

It's one thing to see the finished product—it's another to appreciate the skill, patience, and attention to detail that went into every step of the process. That's exactly what Denny brings to every RV he works on.

A huge shoutout to Denny for another job well done! 👏💪 Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed, and we're proud to have you on the team here at Camping World of Lake City.

💙✨ Employee Spotlight: Meet Bunnie! ✨💙

🚐 The campers may steal the spotlight... but it's the people behind them who make the magic happen. This week, we're celebrating Bunnie! 💙🏕️

Bunnie's Camping World journey began at the end of 2020 when she walked through our doors simply looking for a job. Little did she know, it would turn into a career! Since then, she's worked her way from Retail, to our Internet Team (BDC), and now she's helping families find the perfect RV as one of our Sales Consultants. 🌟

❤️ Her favorite memory is one she'll never forget.

A family of four came to us after their camper broke down while they were traveling. With three of the family members living outside the country, getting everything approved wasn't easy—but Bunnie refused to give up. She worked tirelessly to help them get into a new camper so they could continue their journey. The best part? They still keep her updated on their travels today. 💙

It's stories like these that remind us we're not just selling campers—we're helping families keep making memories.
