• Check for any county burn bans before you light up.
• Keep fires small and inside a proper fire ring.
• Keep a bucket of water or a shovel nearby.
• Never leave a fire unattended, even for a minute.
• Drown, stir, and feel: if it's too hot to touch, it's too hot to leave.
