Leaders of Tomorrow deserve a seat at the table.

Lake Charles Toyota was proud to turn our table at today’s LegisGator Luncheon over to an outstanding group of students from Peer Initiative - Leaders of Tomorrow , also known as PILOT.

Now in its 12th year, Peer Initiative empowers students to recognize warning signs of a mental health crisis, support their peers, and help connect young people with the professional resources they need.

Today, these young leaders had an opportunity to be in a room filled with elected officials, business leaders, and community leaders discussing the future of Louisiana. We can think of few people more deserving of that opportunity than the young people who are already working to make their schools and communities stronger.

We’re proud to support Peer Initiative and even prouder to see these Leaders of Tomorrow taking their seat at the table.

There are some investments whose impact can reach far beyond the amount written on the check.

Lake Charles Toyota recently presented $5,000 to Families for Inclusion to help develop "Kids for Inclusion", a new program that will bring lessons about disability, accessibility, empathy and compassion to young people throughout our community.

The hope is simple: give children an opportunity to better understand one another today and help build a more inclusive Southwest Louisiana tomorrow.

School is back across Southwest Louisiana and East Texas, which means our morning routines are changing again.

There will be a little more traffic, a few more stops, and plenty of students making their way to class. A little extra patience behind the wheel can go a long way.

Give yourself a few extra minutes, slow down through school zones, watch carefully at crosswalks, and be ready to stop for school buses. The most important part of the morning commute is making sure everyone gets where they are going safely.

And while everyone is getting ready for the return to school, it is a good time to make sure your vehicle is ready too. Summer heat can be especially tough on batteries, and the last thing anyone needs on a busy school morning is a car that will not start.
