🏁 A lot has been happening in the GNMS Racing lab over the last few weeks! 🏁

Our teams have completely taken apart, and reassembled their cars. They’ve also been researching and developing new nose cone designs.

There have been plenty of discussions (and a few arguments 😂) about aerodynamics vs. aesthetics, with lots of different ideas and designs considered along the way.

Here are a few shots of the process as students took those ideas and turned them into full-size cardboard prototypes and templates.

We’re also excited to try something new this year! Calsak Plastics worked with us to help select PETG as the material to skin our cars, and we’re expecting it to arrive soon. Once it does, students can turn these prototypes into templates, finish their nose cones, and reskin the rest of the car.

This is what the engineering process looks like: research, design, build, evaluate, and improve. Sometimes cardboard and masking tape are exactly the right tools for the job!

🏁 Last but certainly not least,
help us welcome the 2026–2027 GNMS Racing 8th Grade Team!🏁

This group returns after an outstanding season in the Intermediate Modified Division, earning four podium finishes and proving they can compete with the best Greenpower teams in the country.

While last season didn’t end with the result they were hoping, this team showed resilience, determination, and a commitment to improving every time they came together.

As our most experienced team, they'll help set the standard for GNMS Racing this season. We can't wait to see what they'll accomplish in their final year at Gardner Newman Middle School.

Please help us welcome the 2026–2027 GNMS Racing 7th Grade Team!

Most of these students are returning after an incredible season that ended with a 2nd Place National Championship in the Greenpower_USA F24 Intermediate Stock Division.

This year, they'll take the next step as they move into the Modified Division, where the competition gets even tougher. With a year of F24 experience behind them and a lot of hard work ahead, we have high expectations for what this team can accomplish.

WGTC is helping graduating seniors take their next step with our Manufacturing & Automation Systems Summer Camp!

From June 1–26, students will gain hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, and automation systems while building and racing their own dune buggy. Participants will also earn OSHA 10 and forklift certifications, develop real-world skills, and connect with local employers.
