Here's a message I received the other day. 👊
Message: Hello Verlyn, I first used your oil coolers on my 97' Dodge 3500 ram dually pickup. I had the 5 speed NV4500 and lost overdrive (2) times. I agree that the oil capacity of the NV4500 was grossly inadequate. The gearcase itself is quite narrow and there is 'dwell time' for any of the l**e oil as it is in constant motion. Your coolers were a lifesaver for me after I installed (2) of them on the NV4500. About 20 years ago, I called you to tell you what a great product you had. The coolers that I purchased from you at that time were 3.75" long. At that time, I suggested using your cooler in conjunction with an Eaton-Fuller p/n 8546 filter housing but utilizing a Detroit Diesel ACT T553 primary filter element in place if the wound string 2" element that Eaton Fuller provided. I put over 300,000 miles on the 97' Dodge Ram and passed it down to my son who drove it for another 5 years. I have installed (1) of your coolers on my 2002 Ram 2500 with the NV5600 which now has over 280,000 miles, and still going strong. I also installed (1) on my 2004 Ram 2500 with the NV5600. I had clearance problems with the 2004 with the 5" OD exhaust. So, I mounted the louver/plate upside down on the LH drivers side of the transmission, as the PTO drive gear rotates in the opposite direction. I now have 320,000 miles on the 2004 and I just replaced the clutch for the first time, mainly due to the front oil seal leaking. I drained the transmission and cut apart the Detroit Diesel fuel filter and I was amazed how much metal particles were caught in the filter element pleats. So, your filter will also work in the inverted position on the LH side of the NV5600. When did you change the oil cooler housing to 3", as opposed to the original 3.75" ? I can see that your 3" long filter housing and element with the flat plate gives a lot more clearance for oversize exhaust pipes. Especially when utilizing the Eaton Fuller filter housing. Your addition of a sight glass was an excellent idea. Thank you so much for your excellent product. Your product has served me well on (3) Ram pickups over the past 24 years, for over 1,000,000 combined miles. Best regards...
The one on the left was my let's try this 26 years ago, the other one is the finished product being used since 2001
