Kelly sold a CT125, but first.. a history lesson.
There are few motorcycles in history as iconic as the Honda "Trail" series. For decades, the CT (from the legendary Trail 90 to the rugged CT110) was the undisputed king of the campsite, the ranch, and the backwoods trail. It was the bike that taught a generation how to explore, famously dubbed the "Hunter Cub" for its go-anywhere, do-anything spirit.
We were excited to see another one find a great new home this week, courtesy of our salesman, Kelly, here at Honda of Lafayette.
Bridging the Decades
Honda didn’t just release a new bike; they performed a masterclass in "heritage design." Bringing the CT back meant walking a tightrope between nostalgia and necessity. One wrong move, and you lose the soul of the original. Instead, they hit a perfect balance:
The Look: At a glance, the modern CT125 is unmistakably a descendant of the 1960s lineage. It retains the signature upswept exhaust, the high-mounted air intake, that robust rear rack, and the minimalist aesthetic that made the originals so approachable.
The Soul: Beneath that classic silhouette lies a thoroughly modern heart. Honda took the legendary, bulletproof reliability of the Super Cub and injected it with modern technology: fuel injection for effortless cold starts, dual-disc brakes with front-wheel ABS for safety, and an electric start that keeps you moving without the fuss.
Why it Works
What Honda accomplished with the modern CT125 is rare in the automotive world: they modernized the utility without sacrificing the charm.
They kept the semi-automatic transmission that makes riding intuitive and fun, but paired it with an engine that is efficient, clean, and capable of keeping up with modern traffic. It’s a bike that doesn't just "look" the part. It truly handles the double-duty of a reliable city commuter and a capable weekend explorer.
It is a machine that honors its past while being perfectly prepared for the future. We’re glad we could help get this one out on the road.
