🚨⚠️ DID YOU KNOW? KNOW THE LAW BEFORE YOU SIGN! ⚠️🚨
Louisiana law requires 38 HOURS of driver education for students UNDER 18 years of age!
Under Louisiana Revised Statute 32:402.1, every student under 18 must complete:
📚 30 HOURS of classroom instruction
🚗 8 HOURS of behind-the-wheel instruction
⏰ MAXIMUM 4 HOURS of actual driving instruction per calendar day.
🚨 HERE'S WHERE IT GETS SERIOUS! 🚨
When an instructor, parent, or student signs a certificate of completion, they are attesting that the required instruction was actually provided and completed.
What happens when someone KNOWINGLY signs a certificate even though the required hours were NOT completed?
⚖️ THIS CAN BECOME A CRIMINAL MATTER!
Under Louisiana law, knowingly falsifying official records can result in:
🚔 CRIMINAL CHARGES for filing false public records or injuring public records.
⛓️ UP TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON
💰 FINES UP TO $5,000
🚫 SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION of an instructor's or driving school's license.
⚠️ POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS who knowingly sign false attestations, including possible criminal liability.
Louisiana R.S. 14:132 and R.S. 14:133
These are potential penalties, not automatic punishments. Criminal liability depends on the facts and proof of the required intent.
🛑 THE BOTTOM LINE:
If the student did not receive all 30 classroom hours and all 8 behind-the-wheel hours, DO NOT SIGN A CERTIFICATE CLAIMING THEY DID!
Driver education is not simply about receiving a certificate. It is about preparing young drivers to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly.
Cutting instructional hours doesn't just violate the law — it cheats young drivers out of the education they deserve.
At Southwest Safety Training, we believe that the safety of our students and the integrity of driver education should NEVER be compromised.
38 HOURS MEANS 38 HOURS. NO SHORTCUTS!
