The 14 bolt 9.5 a stout Gm semi float axle made by AAM that truthfully shouldn’t be forgotten arrived in the late 80s and disappeared roughly 2012. Used in Vans,1/2 and 3/4 trucks and it did the job. GM brought it back in 2013 with a New Face, that is the 12 Bolt 9.5. Trucks that came with RPO NHT or a 6.2 engine is the 9.76 version of the new 12 Bolt, the pinion bearings are much larger on the 9.76 and obviously the gear size but the differential remains interchangeable. 2019+ Truck housings centers are ALUMINUM and torque specs are greatly different between the Cast Iron Centers. There’s a ton of the 14 bolts 9.5 axles out there still and with a little love and fabrication they are road, trail, and track worthy. We build them here Due to the easier choice of gear matching to the gm 4x4 trucks.
