This ’79 Toyota Land Cruiser apparently looked at the factory build sheet and said, “Yeah… we’re not doing any of that.” 😂🔥

Somewhere along the way, Toyota engineering met American hot-rod logic, and things got a little out of hand:

🔥 Small-block Chevy V8
🔥 700R4 overdrive transmission
🔥 Holley Sniper EFI
🔥 Vintage Air heat-only system — because frozen toes aren’t part of the vintage experience
🔥 Lokar floor shifter
🔥 Lift kit
🔥 35-inch BFGoodrich tires

Basically, it’s a 1979 Land Cruiser that went through a midlife crisis and came out taller, V8-powered, fuel injected, and considerably more rowdy. 😎

The small-block gives it the attitude, the 700R4 makes it a whole lot happier on the highway, the Sniper EFI removes some of the old-school carburetor drama, and the Vintage Air heater keeps things civilized when the temperature drops.

And of course it’s sitting up on a lift kit and 35-inch BFGs, because after swapping in a Chevy V8, keeping the tires reasonable would’ve just been weird. 😂

This is exactly the kind of stuff we enjoy at Smoky Mountain Rod & Customs — taking something that was already cool and asking:

“How much cooler can we make it before somebody tells us to stop?” 🔧🔥
