What a wild weekend! π€―
Barber was one hell of a roller coaster for multiple members of the 2WDW team.
Nate spent much of Friday and Saturday providing remote data analysis, tuning and electronics support for and the Liberty Yamaha Racing team. Dominic finished 7th in Race 1 and DNF'd Race 2 after a crash in a corner that gave the team grief all weekend. Regardless of the Race 2 result, the team is excited for the next round at Road America! We'll be providing the same support there remotely for the team π€
On top of working with the crew in Supersport, Nate also linked up with and his crew chief, .walters99 , remotely for some tuning and electronics support this weekend in Super Hooligans. Tino finished in 3rd place for Race 1 and 6th in Race 2!
There's no doubt that the Yamahas are definitely the underdogs in both of those classes this season, but that honestly just makes things even more fun for us when it comes to trying to help these guys find any edge possible through tuning refinement and electronic strategy optimization! π€ π
Nels and his family were also at Barber! On the way out to the Alabama coast for a family vacation, they first stopped at Barber to work with again in the Talent Cup. They made some solid progress on the bike and addressed some mechanical issues that popped up on Friday. Having never raced at Barber before, Sawyer finished Race 1 in 6th on Saturday and DNF'd due to a crash on Sunday.
Unfortunately, a lot of Nels's efforts were WILDLY interrupted Saturday morning. While the whole family was waiting at the gate and ticket booth to get into the track, their stationary Suburban was smashed into by a drunk driver. Witnesses estimated that the INCREDIBLY intoxicated driver (he blew a 0.19 at 8AM π€―) passed them on the shoulder at somewhere around 50MPH before turning and slamming into the right rear of Nels's SUV. He and the family spent the rest of Saturday getting checked out at the hospital, and they thankfully escaped anything more serious than bad whiplash and a minor concussion π
