Well I have to say, "I hope the Tennessee Highway patrol officer who pulled me over and gave me a ticket for using my cell phone while trying to find the lady who's dog was locked in her car, and died from the heat, is happy with what he has done.
I had a call from a lady who was at a church off Fort Henry near I-81. She was so upset that I could not hear her clearly on my vehicles hands free phone so I shut the Bluetooth off so I could hear her better. The THP motorcycle cop was sitting in the parking lot of O'Rielly's on Fort Henry, I saw him pull out and yep, sure enough he stopped me. I tried to tell him where I was going and he just said, "I don't care, you were using your cell phone". Now I do understand the importance of not being on the phone, but the law says that EMS, Fire, Police, Etc. are exempt. I was performing a "Public service" to a resident, but he just didn't care.
The church was way back off the street and this poor older woman ran down to the gas station on Fort Henry to call for help.
I felt so bad for her by the time I got there, I told her what happened, and she just kept saying, "Why would he do that, why would he do that".
Thank you, Officer, for letting me stand there and watch the poor woman hold her lifeless dog and crying all for the sake of a ticket.
Hands free is a good idea, but someone who does a public service needs to have an exception.
To the poor woman who lost her pet........I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
I haven't even been able to tell my wife.
