Do cruise ships stop in Maui?
Yes. They dock at Kahului Harbor on the north shore—the island’s main commercial cruise port.
Norwegian’s Pride of America is the only year-round Hawaii ship. It sails weekly from Honolulu and usually spends a night in Maui. Seasonal and repositioning ships also call regularly, including Princess (Crown Princess, Ruby Princess, Emerald Princess), Holland America (Noordam, Koningsdam), Carnival (Spirit, Radiance), Oceania Riviera, Silversea, and others.

A typical stop gives you 8–12 hours (sometimes overnight). The harbor itself is industrial, so the real Maui—Road to Hana, Haleakalā, South Maui beaches, and local food—is a short drive away.

After the storm surges from Hurricane Lowell hit Maui, we’re feeling pretty lucky. Unlike August 2024, North Kihei didn’t pick up another “permanent visitor” this time. That was the summer a ketch washed ashore and sat stuck in the sand for months before it was finally dismantled and hauled away.

If you don’t absolutely need to be on the roadways, please stay off them. Wet roads, debris, downed branches, and high water are no joke — especially on Maui’s winding routes.

Look who rolled up for their close-up… our two 2018 Midnight Edition Sentras 🖤🤍
We buy our cars used, so every now and then we score a different trim that just hits different. These two are still pure 2018-class Sentras under the hood (same reliability, same gas mileage, same “get me to the beach without drama”), they just happen to look extra sharp while doing it.
And of course our resident supervisor Socks had to insert himself in the middle like he owns the place. (He does.)

We’re reaching out to keep our rental customers informed as Tropical Storm Lala approaches the Hawaiian Islands.
As of the latest National Hurricane Center updates this afternoon (Friday, August 14), a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Maui County. Tropical storm conditions are expected to begin affecting Maui Saturday night into Sunday. Forecasters are calling for potential heavy rainfall (8–12 inches possible across Maui), gusty winds (especially stronger in higher elevations), and elevated surf. The system is currently forecast to bring the strongest impacts to the Big Island on Saturday before tracking south of the smaller islands.
We’re not looking to cause alarm—just want everyone to stay aware of the potential risks and plan accordingly.
If you feel uncertain or uneasy about leaving your rental vehicle out overnight, you’re welcome to bring it back to our office so we can store it for you. Please note that customers remain responsible for the vehicle at the end of each day.
Stay updated through official sources (weather.gov/hfo or the National Hurricane Center), and if you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to call us at 808-879-7257.
