We’re reaching out to keep our rental customers informed as Tropical Storm Lala approaches the Hawaiian Islands.
As of the latest National Hurricane Center updates this afternoon (Friday, August 14), a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Maui County. Tropical storm conditions are expected to begin affecting Maui Saturday night into Sunday. Forecasters are calling for potential heavy rainfall (8–12 inches possible across Maui), gusty winds (especially stronger in higher elevations), and elevated surf. The system is currently forecast to bring the strongest impacts to the Big Island on Saturday before tracking south of the smaller islands.
We’re not looking to cause alarm—just want everyone to stay aware of the potential risks and plan accordingly.
If you feel uncertain or uneasy about leaving your rental vehicle out overnight, you’re welcome to bring it back to our office so we can store it for you. Please note that customers remain responsible for the vehicle at the end of each day.

Sometimes the hardest part of a Maui trip is saying aloha for now…
but those last moments? They’re pure gold.
The big group shakas, the silly faces, the golden-hour smiles, the kids still buzzing with energy, and the families packed tight with memories that’ll last forever.
Watching our guests leave with full hearts and even bigger stories is one of the best parts of what we get to do every day.
Leaving isn’t always easy…

Heading back to the airport? Our shared return shuttles leave from our Kihei office every hour on the hour, starting at 8:00 AM through the last shuttle at 9:00 PM.
Please check in at least 15 minutes prior. If you have kids in car seats or need a little extra boarding time, we recommend arriving even earlier so everything goes smoothly.
Shuttles depart promptly, are shared with other guests, and typically get you to the airport 20–30 minutes after leaving our office.

Hey ohana, comparing our Wranglers for your rental? The 2019 models give you proven capability, fun open-air driving, and lower rates with the option to add our insurance. Step up to the 2025s for updated tech like seamless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to keep you connected on the Road to Hana or beach runs. Both handle trails beautifully with similar real-world MPG. The newer ones are a bit pricier and need your own collision coverage, but the extra features are worth it for many. Let us help you pick the right one!
