Strange noise in your NA Miata (90-97)? Is it coming from the gauge cluster? If so, it's most likely caused by the speedo cable. These cars use a mechanical cable to drive the speedometer from the transmission output. This cable gets worn and dried out over time. You can lubricate the cable to bring it back to life and quiet down that awful noise. Or, you may need to replace the cable if it's too far gone.

Trouble with your interior blower fan on NA
Miata? Here is how it works on 90-97 Mazda Miata. Shown is the HVAC blower motor and resistor. A common failure is the resistor, which causes lower speeds to not function, but full speed 4 functions correctly. That indicates a resistor failure.
The solution is replacement of the blower motor resistor. You can buy a replacement used OEM assembly on the MrMiataParts eBay store.
