Did you know? The classic country hit “Good Hearted Woman” was inspired by Tina Turner. In 1969, while staying at the Fort Worther Motel in Fort Worth, Texas, Waylon Jennings spotted a newspaper article calling Tina a “good hearted woman loving two-timing men”—a spotlight of her relationship with Ike Turner. Jennings was inspired and brought the idea to Willie Nelson, who was in the middle of a poker game. Waylon joined in the game and they started writing the lyrics together on the spot, with Nelson’s wife Connie jotting them down as the song took shape. Nearly 20 years later, in a full-circle moment, Tina Turner covered the song in 1988. Now you know the story behind the iconic song.
