“My car has 150,000 miles. Is it still worth fixing?”
Maybe. Mileage alone does not tell us whether a vehicle is worth repairing.
We also want to know:
• Has it been maintained?
• Is the engine healthy?
• Is the transmission working properly?
• Is there serious rust?
• Are the tires and brakes in good shape?
• Are several expensive repairs coming soon?
A well-maintained vehicle with 175,000 miles may actually be a better investment than another used vehicle with 90,000 miles and an unknown history. Do not let the odometer make the decision for you. Look at the condition of the entire vehicle first.
If you are trying to decide whether to repair your current vehicle or replace it, Automotive Blessings can help you understand what you have before you make that decision.

Is My Car Worth Repairing Or Should I Replace It?
Your car needs $3,000 worth of repairs.
Does that automatically mean it is time to replace it? Not necessarily.
The better question is: What will it cost to replace it?
A different vehicle may mean:
• A down payment
• Monthly car payments
• Interest
• Higher insurance
• Taxes and registration
• Maintenance and repairs on a vehicle you do not know
If a $3,000 repair keeps your current vehicle dependable for another two years, that works out to about $125 per month.
That does not mean every older vehicle should be repaired. The condition of the whole vehicle matters.
Before making the decision, find out what your vehicle needs now and what repairs may be coming next.

Why is my car overheating?
Your engine depends on its cooling system to keep the temperature under control. Some common causes of overheating include:
• Low coolant
• A coolant leak
• A bad thermostat
• A cooling fan that is not working
• A failing water pump
• A clogged or damaged radiator
If your temperature gauge starts moving toward the red, don’t keep driving and hope it goes away. Continuing to drive an overheating engine can cause much more expensive damage.
At Automotive Blessings, we can inspect the cooling system and find out why the vehicle is overheating instead of just guessing and replacing parts.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT: CAN I KEEP DRIVING?

Here is an easy way to remember it:

🟡 SOLID = Have it checked.

🔴 FLASHING = Take it seriously.

A solid check engine light means your car has found a problem.
You may still be able to drive it, but you should not ignore it.
A flashing check engine light can mean your engine is misfiring.
If the vehicle is shaking, losing power, or running badly, stop driving it.
Continuing to drive could cause more damage.
Not sure what your light means?
Give Automotive Blessings a call or schedule an appointment online.
We can help you figure out the next step.

WHY IS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON?

This is one of the most common questions we hear. The check engine light can come on for many different reasons. The check engine light can come on for many different reasons.
It could be something small, like a loose gas cap. It could also be caused by:

• Worn spark plugs
• Bad ignition coils
• An engine misfire
• A fuel problem
• An air leak
• A sensor problem
• A wiring problem
• A catalytic converter problem

That is why we do not like to guess. When the check engine light comes on, the car's computer stores a trouble code. But the code does NOT always tell us what part is bad.
Think of the code like a ZIP code. It can tell us what system has the problem, but it cannot tell us the exact part that is bad. The diagnostic testing helps us find the “house” where the problem is. That is how we find out what is really wrong before replacing parts.
There is also something very important to know about the light itself.

🟡 SOLID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
A solid light means the car has found a problem.
The car may still seem to drive fine, but you should have it checked.

🔴 FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
A flashing light is more serious. It can mean the engine is misfiring.
If your car is shaking, losing power, or running badly, you should stop driving it.
Driving with a bad misfire can damage other parts and make the repair more expensive.

At Automotive Blessings, our job is not to replace the first part mentioned by a code.
Our job is to find out WHY the code is there. We test first. Then we repair what is actually wrong. Understanding Your Vehicle. Protect Your Investment.

If your check engine light is on, schedule an appointment with Automotive Blessings and let us find out what your vehicle is trying to tell you.

FLASHING OR SOLID?

Is your check engine light flashing or solid?

There is a big difference.
🟡 SOLID LIGHT
Your car has found a problem.
You may still be able to drive it, but you should have it checked soon.

🔴 FLASHING LIGHT
This can mean the engine is misfiring.
A bad misfire can damage the catalytic converter and make the repair cost much more.
If your light is flashing and your car is shaking, losing power, or running badly, stop driving it and have it checked.
Automotive Blessings can test your vehicle and find out what is really causing the light.
