This speedometer has been a fire in the past. The photo shows the remnants of a melted core. The speedo core is pot metal and melts between 700-900 degrees Fahrenheit. The steel case melts above 2,000 degrees. I have seen this several times over the years.

Received the beautiful, all original Model A Speedometer to rebuild. This has never been apart. The photo shows the markings on the case. Best case I have ever seen. The “600-A” is the Stewart Warner model number for an Oval 1927-May of 1930. The “W-9” means 1929-September. The “61” is the identification number for the final inspector. Once I open the case, I usually find 5 more inspection numbers on the inside Notice the Stewart Warner seal.
