Cool little c10 with a Brian Tooley Racing cammed 5.3 LS and 4l60e in the shop for some fresh engine gaskets, touch up and fix a few things on the swap, pull the transmission for front pump seal, and get a detroit locker in the rear. Maybe get some stainless Speed Engineering long tube headers while it’s here. When it’s finished it will get a tune from Avid Speed to top it off making this one fun and great driving street truck! Oh yea, and cool as hell!!!!

DONT GET IT TWISTED! Your chassis that is! If your making significantly more power than your car came with or even if you drive it like it does then your chassis could get twisted up and cause big issues down the road. This cobra will not be having those issues. Just finished up upper and lower reinforced torque boxes and welded in some BBK subframe connectors to keep this car straight as an arrow! We have brought this car from completely stock untouched to what it is today. It is ready for the track. Call or message us and let us help get yours ready also!

It’s been a busy week at the shop, and weekend! We are glad to announce that we are a dealer for Speed Engineering and we are pushing to become dealers for many other reputable companies. But more importantly the shop finished a couple of jobs and started a few more. We started the week off with finishing a transmission R&R in a 2000 Silverado 4x4 that our great friends down at Avid Speed rebuilt for us. We also welded to a couple broke exhaust manifold bolts and replacing them with new bolts in result fixing an exhaust leak. And in between finishing this truck we had 3 back to back oil pressure sensor/filter replacements on a 2009 GMC Sierra, 2012 Chevy Silverado and a 2009 Chevy Silverado. And now we got a head start on a 4/6 Mcgaugheys lowering kit on a 2000 Silverado. Don’t hesitate to give us a call for any of your automotive or performance needs! Thank you.

What a weekend! We are so happy this week here at Grimes Auto & Performance! Saturday we took a trip down to our friends at Avid Speed that do all of our tuning to strap the shop truck down and clean up the tune after changing out some of the budget turbo parts that have been on this thing from the beginning for some Tial units. This little 5.3 has impressed us all! This is the motor that we rebuilt on a time crunch back before the shop was open. Stuck a used rod in it (gen 3 rods) and opened up ring gaps and put her back together with the block still in the truck.
Saturday the truck laid down 813whp @5900 on a mustang dyno.
There are a lot of people and parts to thank for this one but on top we thank Blake Fondren for the awesome tune keeping this gen 3 motor together as long as it has! Thank you Forcedinductions.com for the turbo that makes it possible on this combo!

We had a ‘98 Silverado in the shop getting a quick rear end swap when the spider gears decided they didn’t belong inside the differential anymore. We decided to go back with a much stronger 14 bolt instead of the 10 bolt that was in it. Pretty simple swap, the only difference from the two is the drum brake and the u joint. But we got it in and out in a hurry! Shoot me a message if you’re in need of any mechanic work big or small. Anything from scheduled maintenance to cam swaps and turbo kits.

Weather is getting cold! Is your heater working well? Does your car take forever to heat up in the mornings? Bring it in and let us check it out. In the picture on the left you can see the light coming through the center. This thermostat is stuck open. We replaced this with a new one and changed the oil while the car was in. Wala!!! Heat in the mornings for this one.

SOUND ON FOR THIS ONE! Another of our cars doing a personal best Sunday Huntsville Dragway. Kyle Buntley driving Adam Buntley’s 01 cobra. We did a little tweaking on this car last week and are very impressed with the results! This car is flying for this simple setup! And did we mention it’s a full weight STICK SHIFT car?!?! We have to thank Blake Fondren at Avid Speed again for the tuning on this one! Share if you like seeing our cars make progress!
