id filled steel barrels or a small sheepsfoot to induce compaction. None of these competitors come close to the weight of a 10,000 to 14,000 pound tractor. Without the weight of the tractor the pore space is not compressed out of the moved soil and enduring compaction is not achieved. These lighter weight packing systems are usually followed by a rolling coil or a rolling basket, both of which do nothing more than disguise the failure of those inferior systems to move the correct amount of displaced soil into the track and pack it level with the original field surface. This incomplete job results in the first irrigation with the pivot tower tires running in wet soil just squishing the loosely replaced and poorly compacted soil right back out of the track. TracPacker filled tracks are refilled with only the required amount of soil to fill the tracks back to the level of the field surface. The compaction induced by the rubber tires and the weight of the tractor keep TracPacker filled tracks shallow and stable throughout the year.
