NHTSA just officially started the rule making process to require every car sold in America to have a door you can actually get out of when the power goes out, which sounds insane to say out loud, but here we are. A Bloomberg investigation found at least 15 deaths in crashes where Tesla occupants survived the initial impact and then couldn't get out before the fire got them. Elon Musk reportedly pushed for electric doors anyway after internal safety concerns were raised.

China already finalized this as a mandatory standard and Hong Kong moved to ban EVs with electronic only handles meaning the US is now playing catch up on a regulation that exists entirely because someone decided a flush door handle looked cooler than not dying in a crash.
