Hard Truth time… Make sure you pay attention to this if you’re getting a new car, or even just considering getting a new car.
Your “brand new” car’s paint needs professionally decontaminated and polished to look as good as it should.
On most modern new vehicles, your clear-coat is thinner, more fragile and more susceptible to damage from environmental elements than ever. You’ve heard of shrinkflation, right? Your cookie gets smaller, but the price keeps going up…the same thing happens across multiple industries.
The “paint protection” or “appearance package” that’s dropped on you midway through signing papers in the finance office is an insurance product…it IS NOT a true, durable, high solids, professional grade ceramic coating. Even if they say the upgraded option is a ceramic coating, you are still buying a 3rd party underwritten insurance product.
That said, insurance can be a valuable add on. If you believe that what you are offered is something you might find useful during your ownership, then by all means, add it. Just make sure you understand what it is, and what it is not, and what the program covers.
At the end of the day, you are buying the insurance, and not physical paint protection. If a finance manager insists you must pay for it because “it’s already on the car”, tell them no, or walk away. Again, it’s the insurance you’re paying for. Most of these programs can be canceled and be eligible for a prorated refund, so it doesn’t in-fact matter if it’s “already been done” on the vehicle.
With all of this in mind, we do work with several dealerships, so when you get to the accessories department, ask for a ceramic coating package from Reflection Automotive Spa to protect your vehicle right away.
Thanks for coming to our TED Talk… We can’t wait to protect and care for your new vehicle!
