Something we don't see everyday....
Pinion from a GM 10 bolt snapped in half, sounds like it failed from fatigue/age. Original gear set in the car from 1971, so certainly possible, just goes to show age and wear can be unpredictable

Details details details... Doing a cam swap and rocker upgrade on a 390 Ford, it's important to always check rocker hit pattern (sweep) on the valve tip. These ended up being quite far away from the center of the stem where we wanted them, so the stands were adjusted to get the proper pattern. Also important is the left/right spacing of the rockers on the shafts, which also has to be adjusted

There's detail even in "simple" jobs. Doing valve cover gaskets on these chrome covers requires scuffing the chrome off the sealing surface, peening the holes, trimming gasket tabs to fit, and using a proper sealant (not silicone) to glue both sides of the gasket. This particular set is for an FE, so special attention has to be paid to the valve cover rail where the intake mates to the head as well.

Installation note to those working with EFI - don't install O2 sensors oriented this way, they can't be angled below horizontal or moisture will build inside them and they will fail.

Just pulled a new Holley out of the box? Do yourself a favor and close the backdoor.

They often come with the secondary stop screw hanging the secondary door open making them a pain to get in tune and/or to idle properly. The stop screw is very difficult to get to once the carb is on, so do it first.
