There should be room in our community for every honest farmer and produce seller.
Producer-only farmers markets serve an important purpose. They give smaller growers a place to sell what they personally raise during the limited days and seasons when those products are available.
K&D Farm & Homestead serves a different—but equally important—purpose.
We grow what we can, and we are always honest about it. When weather, drought, crop loss, season, or customer demand exceeds what our farm can supply, we purchase quality produce from other American farmers and trusted produce suppliers. That allows us to provide a larger selection and serve our customers throughout the week—not only for a few hours on one particular day.
Many of our customers work weekends, cannot attend a Saturday-morning market, or need products that are not grown locally. Bananas, pineapples, grapes, peaches, sweet corn, tomatoes and other products all have different growing regions and seasons. There is nothing dishonest about bringing good food from one American farming community to another—as long as customers are told the truth.
American agriculture should be about farmers, growers, independent markets and communities helping one another—not turning food sales into a battlefield or implying that only one business model can be trusted.
We respect the people who grow locally. We respect the American farmers who grow outside our immediate area. We also respect our customers enough to be honest about what we grow, what we source and where their food comes from.
Thank you to everyone who chooses to support K&D. Your support helps us keep serving our community, employing local people and working toward growing more of our own products every year.
