A routine task can become a dangerous situation in seconds. Before unhooking from a trailer, take time to check what will support it.
• Confirm BOTH landing gear legs are lowered and firmly supported on ground capable of carrying the trailer’s weight.
• Inspect the legs, feet, braces, and mounting points for damage.
• Pull forward slowly, keeping the tractor frame beneath the trailer. Stop and confirm the trailer is stable before pulling completely clear.
• If the landing gear shifts, sinks, or appears unstable, stop and get assistance. Keep everyone clear of the trailer.
Even with proper precautions, unexpected equipment failures can happen. When they do, Blatt & Tillett Truck & Trailer Repair is here to assist you and your fleet with the equipment and manpower the situation requires.
