I had a job at 10 this morning, one of my customers had stated that her car was having problems with sudden loss of motive power while driving and occasional difficult starts. I suspected fuel issues from the description.
When she arrived I ran a scan and got a code and started to research it. Turns out the code is for a sudden loss of fuel pressure in the middle of the system and it's a common problem to the point that Hyundai and Kia extended the warranty to 15 years and 150000 miles which she was easily still within.
I informed her of all of this and gave her the link to the NHTSA website where they filed it with them so she has extra backup if they try to refuse her.
Sure, that technically means I lost a potentially paying job and I'd be lying if I said I didn't do this for money. I do. But my main goal is to help my customer take care of their car properly and for the best price. If the manufacturer made a mistake and is covering that mistake I'd much rather send you to them to get it fixed for free as that's the right thing to do.
That's what you get with my work. I either do the work right and obsess over it, or I do the right thing and I send you to where you can get it done for free or a price I can't match cause that's the right thing to do. 🙂
